When a snake threatens my babies, it’s going to have to face me. And when I have to face a snake, nine times out of ten, t he snake is going to lose.
Today I found a medium sized rust colored snake swimming around my pool. The same pool where my dogs dive for balls and I dangle my feet in the water. The snake must go. I hate it when snakes are in my pool. It makes is so much more difficult for me to come up with a killing plan. Today with the 14-inch (or more) snake slinking around I had to make decisions on what to do. I could try to scoop it out with the net, but I worried it would slither up the pole and come at me. So instead I used the net to bat at it a couple of times hoping to stun it, then scoop it and throw it out the back door. But my plans changed. I was able to stun it by hitting it with the net, then I hit it with the blunt end of a big axe. I am not embarrassed or ashamed or the slightest bit guilty about killing snakes, rats, roaches and spiders. I will kill a snake and did today.

The Snake!

Yuk!
The reptile is in snake heaven tonight where he’s not threatening me or my dogs any more.

Love the Ball.. Love the Water..
Mikita visits the “dog park” for the first time.
I was very leery of taking her to the dog park. The thought of my baby running around without her leash among dozens of other dogs. What if she ran away? What if another dog attacked her? What if she ran off into the woods? (Yes, and god forbid, what about alligators!?)
Ok – just take a look at that photo to the left. Is that not one happy dog? She started off a little timid, stopping to smell everything, looking around to make sure we were close by and staring at all the other 4-legged friends running around. But she quickly adapted and was soon romping around and splashing around in the lake like a dog-park pro.

Mike watches over her.
Mike was the instigator of getting us to even go to the park. He knew (and reassured me) how much fun she was going to have. I was so worried about her running off. But she was more nervous about us leaving her. She ran up and down the shoreline, but would stop and turn around to make sure we were still standing where she left us before she ventured on further. And she got along splendidly with all the other dogs. Ahhh.. happy dog days.

- Look at me! I’m soaking wet!
For those in Central Florida, we went to Fleet Peeples Park in Winter Park, by the old Navy Base. There must have been more than 100 dogs there that day, if not more. It is double-gated to make it difficult, if not impossible for a dog to get out. There are dogs of all shapes and sizes, all there to have the times of their lives. Maybe we’ll see you there soon.
