  2. RIP: Michael Jackson & Farrah Fawcett

    Farrah Fawcett

    Farrah Fawcett

What can I possibly say that hasn’t already been said by everyone else.  Two pop culture icons gone on the same day.

Farrah was absolutely gorgeous. I grew up in the era where we all had “farrah feathered hair”.  (No pictures immediately available.)
And Michael – the musical genius will be sorely missed.  Thankfully we will have his music to remind us of his enormous talents.   In today’s Orlando Sentinel is a nicely written article by Jim Abbott about Michael Jackson and his time at Disney World.  I didn’t realize Abbott was a former cast member who was working at Disney in the 1980′s when Michael frequented the parks.
We will miss them both.  May the rest in peace.

  3. What a News Day!

    June 22, 2009 by Leanne

I take a 3-day weekend splashing around the pool for hours upon hours and come inside to see what a news day it has been today!

The DC Metro Train crash is awful. Mike and I have been on those trains many times. I’ve always felt safe. The stations are clean, the trains are always on time, and the people are friendly. But you never, ever know, do you?  God bless everyone who was hurt and for all the rescuers and medical staff helping them.

    ———————————————

Let me begin by disclosing I have never watched an episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight, and nor will I likely ever. But you’d have to be living under a rock to not know who they are and what’s going on.  Yes, they officially are getting divorced.  All I can think is – the poor kids.

    ————————————-

Tonight’s episode of Access Hollywood, usually one of my more favorite entertainment shows, actually made me nauseated.  The amount of time they spent on this absolutely stupid publicity stunt by Perez Hilton and the Black Eyed Peas was obnoxious. If my remote hadn’t been on the other side of the room I would have switched away.  What a waste of precious TV time.

    ————————————–

An Orlando K-9 officer was shot and killed today by his owner.  I couldn’t believe this story when I heard it. Damn these criminals who instigate all this.  Damn, damn criminals.

    ————————————–

And the US Open.  My work-out buddy Tiger made his famous final day advance but my heart and everyone else’s was with Phil.  Phil Mickelson did an amazing job coming from behind to tie for 2nd place.  But the coveted trophy was not his to have.  Instead, unknown southerner Lucas Glover took the prize.  They say he is well deserving of it.  This was a very fun US Open to watch this year, despite all the weather delays. It’s always more entertaining when Tiger and Phil are chasing each other for the win.

    —————————————–

Yes – I know there were other important news stories today.  I’ve kept my eye on the Iran unrest, the N.Korean missile crisis, Barach’s moves, Casey Anthony’s trial, the heat, and the stock market dive today. I just don’t feel like writing about them.

Back to you Bob & Marla.

  5. To Kill a Snake

    April 4, 2009 by Leanne

When a snake threatens my babies, it’s going to have to face me. And when I have to face a snake, nine times out of ten, t he snake is going to lose.

Today I found a medium sized rust colored snake swimming around my pool.  The same pool where my dogs dive for balls and I dangle my feet in the water.  The snake must go. I hate it when snakes are in my pool. It makes is so much more difficult for me to come up with a killing plan. Today with the 14-inch (or more) snake slinking around I had to make decisions on what to do.  I could try to scoop it out with the net, but I worried it would slither up the pole and come at me.   So instead I used the net to bat at it a couple of times hoping to stun it, then scoop it and throw it out the back door.  But my plans changed. I was able to stun it by hitting it with the net, then I hit it with the blunt end of a big axe. I am not embarrassed or ashamed or the slightest bit guilty about killing snakes, rats, roaches and spiders.  I will kill a snake and did today.

    The Snake!

    The Snake!

    Yuk!

    Yuk!

The reptile is in snake heaven tonight where he’s not threatening me or my dogs any more.

  6. Think Positive

    February 14, 2009 by Leanne

To describe these days at “tough economic times” doesn’t do it justice.  These are agonizing times. Gut-wrenching if you really want to know. I’m awake more than I’m asleep, wondering and worrying what lies ahead, not only for me, but for so many others.

Please send your positive thoughts and prayers to anyone you know going through a difficult situation.

We need those multi-millionaires to get out and start spending some of their money.  That would only help, right?
