  1. When exactly…

    February 21, 2009 by Leanne

I’m trying to remember when exactly:

    • I started prefering talk radio over music
    • I no longer recognized any of the Top 10 songs of the week
    • I started preferring a glass of red wine over a seabreeze or madris
    • I could no longer stay up too late or sleep in past 7am
    • The fear of skin cancer overcame the need to get a deep, dark tan
    • Watching TV news went from “must see” to “if I have time I’ll watch”
    • Driving a paid-off old car was more important than looking hip in a shiny new car.
    • Not having seen ANY of the Oscar nominated movies doesn’t bother me
    • I fazed out all my high-heeled shoes to wear comfy flats or low-heels
    • Going home to feed the dogs was more enticng than hitting happy hour

When did all these changes happen?  What can you add to this list?

  2. Super Bowl XLIII

"My Super Bowl Team" at Raymond James Stadium

Game Day has finally arrived here in Tampa. The weather forecast is outstanding, maybe slightly chilly for my Florida blood, but all the visitors will love it.
For those wondering why am I here – I am part of the Disney team that produces the “I’m Going to Disney World” commercial and helps bring the player to Walt Disney World the next day. I’ve been doing this since the last New Orleans bowl, which I think was 2002. I missed a few in-between for various reasons. All-in-all, this will be my 6th Super Bowl appearance. I feel very blessed and fortunate to have this opportunity. I don’t and never will take it for granted. I love the pageantry of the event, all the hype, all the devotion of the fans for their teams. I had that same devotion to the Miami Dolphins back in the days of Dan Marino and Don Shula. When those days ended, so did my hard-core passion for football. But, it is really cool to see others having so much fun and enjoying the moment.
So for tonight- I don’t have a favorite team. I only wish that everyone has a great time and enjoys the big game.

  3. Super Bowl Pre-Game Action

    January 28, 2009 by Leanne

I had the opportunity to attend the media briefings on Wednesday, Jan. 28 in Tampa. I was in the right moment at the right time when Steeler’s QB Ben Roethlisberger walked in the room with video cam in hand taping all the action and acting like a journalist. He was friendly “harrassing” his teammates with the video shoot. All in good fun and fun to watch.

  4. True Love

Found this awesome heartwarming story on another site (dooce.com) and had to repost it.  It truly is all about true love from the most unconventional participants.

  5. Happy New Year 2009

    January 1, 2009 by Leanne

2008 was a year that will go down in history. I don’t have to list all the national and international reasons – just pick up the paper or turn on the TV to see their list of reasons why.

For me, many things changed in 2008. Last year at this time:

    - My mom was days away from her total hip replacement surgery. It took her months to recouperate. Now her osteroarthritis is kicking in with tremendous pain and disability.

    - Mikita was only 8-weeks old and I could lift her up with one hand. It’s a little hard to do that now that she weighs 75-pounds.

    - I was just getting to know Beatrice, Beth, Bret, Brigitta, Darcie, Erin, Heather R, Heather M, Kara, Kim, Laura, and Michelle as the FIRST EVER Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

    - I had no idea who Amber, Anna, Cathy, Diane L, Diane C, Doug, Jackie, Jennifer, Jo, Joanne, Jodi, Karen, Kay, Margaret, Tanya, and Whitney were – and they impact they’ll have on me in 2009.

    - I still was making car payments (not any more!)

    - I wasn’t on Facebook or Twitter – and really had no idea last year what Twitter even was.

    -Trivet Island didn’t exist.

    - That I would be single and alone on NYE again this year. Ok – I’m technically both but only because Mike is in DC.

    - I would become addicted to TV shows completely out of my demographic (lriG pissoG)

    - I would be leading a new department with a brand new team in 2009.

    - I would sadly lose touch with some of my close friends from ’07.

    - I had no idea who Barach Obama was and would have been shocked if you told me then he would become our newest President.

    - I had no idea the economy was heading south so darn quickly.

    - I am thankful for everything I had in 2008.

I wish everyone the very best in 2009 and hope you all have a safe and happy new year.

    God Bless you all.

    -

  6. WHY?

    December 28, 2008 by Leanne

I’ve been wondering many things lately, so thought I would compile a list of things I’m constantly asking “WHY?”

*WHY* Do furniture stores advertise beds as “3-piece” sets when they are referring to the headboard, foot board and rails. They don’t sell these pieces individually so why should they advertise them as individual pieces? Drives me crazy. (more…)

    Merry Christmas Everyone!
The epitome of Christmas at Mike’s house in DC.
Mike collects beer steins. Can you guess which one I gave him? Shouldn’t be that hard to figure out if you know me well enough.

The White House Christmas tree and Menorah.
I wish everyone the best this holiday season. May the economy improve. May everyone have good health in 2009 and may everyone’s stress level decrease. Let’s all do what we can do to help each other. It’s not going to be easy in the coming months. I know I can’t survive it alone, we need each other for support and friendship.
Now – off to watch a double-dog dare and triple-dog dare in “A Christmas Story”.
    Merry Christmas !

  9. Moms & Animals

    December 11, 2008 by Leanne

Ok – I know many of you want to see more from the 2009 WDW Moms Panel training weekend. And I will oblige and get to those pictures shortly. But first, I have to post pics I took today at Disney’s Animal Kingdom during a walking tour with an Imagineer. I think I might have to submit my work to National Geographic Magazine after this.

Captured in mid-yawn. I think she’s trying to tell us – that now that the Moms Panel has left, she might be able to get some sleep.

Where’s my pal Tony? Is he eating more cereal?
On watch at Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom.

    Meercat on the look-out.

Cool tidbit told by the Imagineer today – this monument dedicated to the Yeti is actually totally aligned with all the peaks on Expedition Everest. Look for yourself, every peak matches perfectly with the monument tops.

A sneak peek of whats to come – the 2009 Moms Panel did a photo shoot at Japan in Epcot.
More to come on the last hours of the Moms Panel training, after I’ve had some rest.

  10. 2009 WDW Moms Panel Training – 1st 24 hours

    December 6, 2008 by Leanne

Following up from my last post, today we had a very nice breakfast at the conference center and heard from Duncan, Craig, and Charles. Charles have a brief talk about the resorts which led into our mini-tour of the resorts. We saw the Family Suites at the All Star Resort, the new pirate-themed rooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort and ended at Saratoga Springs to see the new DVC offerings. From there it was lunch at The Wave at the Contemporary. The group then broke into groups and headed their separate ways until this evening. Some went to Magic Kingdom, others to Epcot and a few headed to Animal Kingdom. The rest of us came back to Coronado to get some work done.

    Arrgh – matey!
    Are these damsels in distress?

    Touring is tiring.

The refurbished pool at Caribbean Beach looks so darn inviting!
