The secret to my fabulous French toast is so simple – it’s almost a sin.
1. The biggest secret is using good quality bread. I prefer multi-grain or whole grain breads and a nice thick piece of it, too.
2. The 2nd secret – only use real maple syrup. You know, the kind in the ivory jug that says “Fresh from Vermont”.
Other than that, the rest of the recipe is basic:
Soak bread in mixture of:
- 1 egg, or 2 egg whites
- 1 heaping TBSP sugar
- 1 TSP vanilla
- couple dashes of cinnamon
Cook in frying pan using a pat of butter. Pour the real maple syrup over the cooked bread and “wahlah!”
