  1. My First Video

    March 30, 2008 by Leanne

I bought my first digital camera with video function over the Christmas holidays. It’s taken me three months to get up the courage to use it. Now you get to see my very first video! What a surprise – it features my babies as the stars. Hit the play button to see my first production.
My next step is to get the operating manual out for my edit software so I can learn how to produce a really good video. Baby steps everyone, baby steps.

  2. Who's Smarter Than My 5th Grade Teacher?

    March 22, 2008 by Leanne

At my age, who really keeps in touch with their 5th grade teacher? Ok – I do. I was fortunate enough to have the best 5th grade teacher ever – Ms. Jennings. Better known as – Miss Toni Jennings. I was also fortunate to be one of the few classes she ever taught before leaving education to enter the world of politics. If you’re not from Florida, Toni Jennings has a big history here in politics, having last served as Lt. Governor under Jeb Bush. Prior to that she served as President of the Florida Senate with a tremendous history and outstanding reputation.
Because she and I are both originally from the Winter Park area, over the years, I would bump into her across town – at Publix, restaurants, the Farmer’s Market. It always amazed me that she recognized me. After all, I was only 10 years old when she was my teacher and that, folks, was a very long time ago.
This week, Toni was the recipient of a Roast & Toast held at Church Street Station.
Orlando Sentinel was at the Roast and has a review of the event – although the reporter forgot to mention that Toni called me out by name as her star student. What an oversight!

    Dining at Disneyland
Earlier this week, I was at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim for a conference with some of my worldwide partners. People flew in from Hong Kong, Paris and Orlando to get together. Below is one of our group dinners held at Downtown Disney. By the way, Downtown Disney in Anaheim is awesome! It’s pretty, easy to get around and very relaxing. (and they have a Sephora!)

Sorry Mike but this is a fun picture!
    Cats & Dogs
This is the last weekend of providing temporary home for my mom’s two cats. They go home to her Easter Sunday – after a 2-month vacation at my house. Last night, Mikita caught Shawnee (the 18 y/o cat) eating her supper. Mikita didn’t get upset, she just pushed her nose in the dish and started eating alongside her. Who’da thunk?

    Happy Easter everyone.

  3. Block Party Fun

    March 15, 2008 by Leanne

I was lucky enough this week to see the new parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – the new Block Party Bash made its debut to very happy crowds.
It made me realize though, how long it had been since I’ve stood on the sidelines and watched a parade from start to finish. I can’t even remember the last time I saw the old parade, Disney’s Stars & Motorcars Parade – 3 years ago? Maybe longer? That’s just not right. I think some people have the misconception that we’re in the parks all the time. I will go for months at a time without ever stepping foot in one of the parks. And that’s not good either. There needs to find a happy medium.
Anyway, this new parade is chocked full of Pixar characters and acrobat artists and dancers, all bringing high energy to the crowd. Everyone was clapping and moving to the music. The performers bring down the audience into the fun which was a crowd pleaser.

Before the parade, comedy police keep everyone laughing with their spontaneous one-liners. They were very good – quick with the wit!

What’s a blog update without a Mikita update? Here she is at 19-weeks. I’m taking her to the kennel soon for boarding (which is breaking my heart) and I’m curious to see what she weighs now. She’s heavy!

Here she is wrestling with Jefferson. Look how big she’s getting! Take into account that Jefferson weighs 74 pounds.

Off to Disneyland for a few days. A report on that trip next weekend.

    Adios!

  4. Work in Progress

    March 8, 2008 by Leanne

The shower overhaul/remodeling project is in full swing and has morphed into a complete master bathroom re-do. Yikes! I am so happy the new shower looks awesome. There’s still detail work to be done but the major portion of it is complete. This weekend, we go shopping for new light fixtures, mirrors, and towel racks. Then in two weeks, the floor gets re-tiled and the tub becomes a jacuzzi. Wahoo!

I wish I had taken a “before” picture to show what a huge difference this is. Just picture in your mind, cheap, white 4″ square tile. This is not a finished photo – Pete still needs to wipe it down and polish it up, but hopefully you get the idea of what it looks like.

    A much prettier floor. Yea.

The rest of the bathroom is still in the “old” condition – with the exception of the counter tops and faucets, those are new. We’re replacing the cabinets, lights, and mirrors, plus a new paint job.

This tub will become a jacuzzi :) with new tile and flooring.

My baby is growing up, physically, not mentally. She’s such a devious puppy! I spent 10 minutes on Friday chasing her around the house after she pulled the garbage bag down from the counter, found a pork spare rib and was running around the house with the rib in her mouth. I wasn’t too happy, although I did find myself laughing at the situation.

When will those ears stand up straight?

Jefferson is still the good ole boy he always has been.
