  1. Shower to Shower each day….

    February 24, 2008 by Leanne

If you are as old as I am, you have to remember that jingle for Shower to Shower body powder.
But that’s not what we’re here to talk about today. No – Shower-to-Shower is all about my upcoming new master shower to be done this week. Yea!!
My house is 17-years old and the shower is showing it’s age. There is black mold on the grout seams (yes -yuck), pieces of the tile floor are chipped, the ceiling lamp casing is rusted and the wall seams are falling apart.
Starting Tuesday, my wonderful and handsome handyman neighbor will be installing new tile, new counter tops and new faucets in my master bath. I am so excited!
Back in early January, he customized my back porch and it looks amazing.
New wood ceiling, fresh paint on the walls and floor, a new ceiling fan, and outdoor speakers in the upper corners. It is so beautiful. The furniture is from Sears – and is on sale this week if anyone is in need of outdoor furniture.

Mikita is 16-weeks old. She officially turns 4-months old this coming weekend. She’s getting so tall and lean and feisty and defiant.

Look Mom – I’ve got one ear all the way up!

They were wrestling with each other and landed in this position. They later fell asleep like this. Can you say “cute”!!!?

  2. Mid-February Update

    February 9, 2008 by Leanne

I wish I had a great teaser line to put here – to keep you interested, but I have to say, I think life has been ker-ray-zee lately.

We’ll begin with Mom. She’s still in rehab and will be until early next week. She’s hating it. The semi-private room part I completely understand – there’s no privacy, you’re suffering through what your roommate has and it’s just a nuisance. Today was a particularly bad day. She said she cried during physical therapy because she was frustrated and not making the progress they expected her to make. It’s sad. She wants to come home tomorrow – not happening. It will be Tuesday at the earliest. My guess is Wednesday. No-one knows.

This week at work was wild with Idol. I had to drop everything for nearly 72 hours and focus on nothing else but American Idol. Life there is slowly starting to get back to normal.

And then there’s that darn puppy at home. At more than 25 pounds, she’s growing stronger and bigger every day. Latest estimation is she’ll be close to 80 pounds at full growth. Yikes!! That’s one big GIRL!

She watches the K9 class very closely – taking in every move.

She’s thinking to herself “one day.. that will be me!”

“In the meantime, I’ll just sit here and be cute.”

“I’ll watch as all those other dogs do the hard work.”

Would you take a look at how big those paws are????

  3. Mom is in Rehab

    February 3, 2008 by Leanne

Breaking News – it wasn’t a police helicopter escorted trip to rehab like Brittney received, but it is still a trip to rehab. For those not in the know – mom finally had her hip replacement surgery on Monday and after 5 days in the hospital, she was transferred to a rehab facility where she’ll be for the next 2 weeks. I spent a few hours with her today at the center and she’s got a LONG way to go before she can go home on her own. She still can’t even get up out of bed on her own and requires a wheelchair just to get to the bathroom -which is 6 feet away. The nurse said she is progressing much slower than most patients.

Mom in her wheelchair eating dinner at the bed.

This is the front view of the rehab facility. It’s nice – all the staff has been very pleasant so far. I was even allowed to bring Jefferson in to see her today. Dogs are allowed and encouraged!

While Mom is rehabbing – I’m taking care of her two cats. This is Shawnee – she’s a beautiful 18-year old girl – who doesn’t have a lot of time left on this Earth. She’s nothing but skin and bones, yet she eats like a lion.

This is Chipper. Yes, named after Chipper Jones. He’s very shy and scared of everything. And he’s fat.

I love how they sit together and pose for the camera. I must have 10 shots just like this. They’re just so cute!

This looks much more vicious than it really is. They’re just wrestling and playing together. Her puppy teeth are supposed to be falling out pretty soon. Hasn’t happened yet.

    Nice action shot.

And lastly, a shot to make you want to go take a nap. Blissful sleep!
