I cannot think of an appropriate title for this post. It’s just a comglomerate of stuff from the past few weeks. I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since my last update. I haven’t been “extremely” busy, but time has just been flying by without even a hint of a look back.
Last time on the blog, the Indianapolis Colts had just been to Disney World. Wow, the Super Bowl feels like it was 10 months ago, not just a few weeks ago. Since then, I thought I lost Ashley, found out I’m going to Paris soon, bought a new (replacement) Ipod, and welcomed the Atlanta Braves to Spring Training at Disney. Oh- and I chopped all my hair off (not like Brittney Spears, much more civilized than that!)
Let’s begin with Ashley:
I think it was the 2nd weekend of February – on a Saturday when her back right leg just gave out on her. She was limping, hopping and having a difficult time getting up and lying down. I cried all weekend long thinking it was time to put her down. I took her to the vet on Monday morning. I have the world’s best veterinarian, Dr. Cannon. What a great guy. He’s been her doctor since she was just a little puppy. At nearly 14 years old, she’s had a long and great life. Anyways, he examined her, took some x-rays and came back with the fabulous news that he didn’t think it was her time yet. Best guess was it was severe arthritis or a cancerous tumor on the hip joint that was causing all the weakness. And because she was so alert, still very aware of what was going on around her, begging for biscuits, barking for supper, and still wanting to play ball, he said – not even close to putting her down yet. You can’t even begin to imagine the weight lifted off my shoulders. I realize she doesn’t have much longer left in this world, but I am cherishing every moment I still have with her. She’s been my baby for almost 14 years! My protector and companion.

These shots were taken the day we came home from the vet.
This shot shows the back right leg and how she favors it.
Jefferson only cares about the ball – and so does Ashley. They never fight over the same toy – they have their own toys and they know which one is which.
Do the Tom-a-hok Chop:
The Atlanta Braves are back in town and in full swing with Spring Training at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Can you believe they are celebrating 10-years of training at Disney this year? There are all kinds of t-shirts and hats with the 10-year celebration logo. Again, time is flying by too quickly.
I went to my first Spring training game this past week. Braves vs the Pittsburgh Pirates. Braves won in 10 innings. It was a gorgeous day for a game. My arms got a little sun-burnt. I will have to remember the sunscreen for this week’s game when I take my team to go watch the Braves vs. Yankees game. That will be lots of fun.
My friend Grace went with me this week. She made a great comment – baseball players and soccer players are good eye candy. Why is that? Baseball players are so darn good looking (most of them).

Hines Ward threw the ceremonial first pitch to Chipper Jones.

Smoltz pitched two innings.

Andruw Jones at bat.
And finally, my new HAIR!

It’s really short in the back – and my natural curls have taken over my head.
That’s it for now. Back to work tomorrow.
