  1. Foggy Morning

    December 30, 2006 by Leanne

When I let the dogs out at 6am this morning, I saw what a foggy morning it was going to be. About an hour later, when it was time for the morning walk ritual with Jefferson, I grabbed my camera to take along, hoping to get some great morning photos. I did okay. See for yourself:

And of course, I had to have Jefferson pose for his foggy photo.

    Happy New Year everyone!

  2. Merry Christmas to all!

    December 22, 2006 by Leanne

From Thanksgiving to Christmas – where has the time gone?
Today is the Friday before Christmas – three days to go until the big day. Why I still get excited about it, I don’t know. I actually have no plans until late Christmas day – so I’m thinking I’ll be here with my old dog babies watching the Christmas Parade or maybe some of my DVDs.
I can’t get enough of Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in The Sound of Music. This hills are alive!

Let’s start with some of my recent holiday shopping extravaganzas.
Fake Christmas Tree – I made the decision this year to get an artificial tree. I actually decided that around Thanksgiving and scoured the papers looking for a bargain. The after-Thanksgiving sales were pretty good, but I never bought one. So last weekend, I went out again in search of a good deal. No research done this time around. My first stop was at Lowe’s. It took me a little while to find their minimal tree selection. And when I did, I was disappointed in the fact that none of them were on sale. The prices were around $250. So I walked away – not about to pay those kinds of prices.
On to JC Penneys. Again, took a little while of walking around the store to find the trees. But I did, and lo and behold, the trees were on sale. I found one that I really liked priced at $149. But, finding a salesperson was a whole other story. I waited around. I walked around. I found one person who was not at all interested in helping me. So, I left frustrated.
On a whim, I decided to stop in at Michael’s Craft Store. The lady luck of finances was now on my side. All their artificial trees were just marked down THAT DAY 80% off original prices. Yahoo! I walked away with a 7.5 foot pre-lit tree for $80. Yea for me! And it is absolutely beautiful – as you will see below.
There are more successful stories like that but I don’t want to bore you with them. The big moral is – persistence pays off. Keep looking for that bargain because it’s out there somewhere.

My Uncle Pete from Georgia was in town for a few days. We had lunch at Dubsdread Country Club with my mom. Yummy. He headed back home to start chemotherapy.

My bargain Christmas tree – all decorated.

My friend Kent Morton on my visit to WESH this year. He looks great as usual.
At the beginning of the month I was in Los Angeles for a few days on business. I took time out to visit the Queen Mary ship docked in Long Beach.

Mike enjoys a mimosa aboard the Queen Mary.

Tooling around Balboa Island, came across this rather funny ice cream shop.

To get to Balboa Island, I took my first ever auto-ferry ride. How fun!

I had to research the holiday activities at Disneyland. Here I am in front of their “its a small world” attraction, decked out for the holidays.

Mickey had some fun playing in the snow globe.

And here I am in the snow globe at 4:00am. Hey, at least I’m awake!
    Merry Christmas to all.
    Happy Holidays to everyone.

  3. Updates coming soon

    December 13, 2006 by Leanne

I can’t believe it has been three weeks without an update from me.
    Your emails have been noted!

I promise this weekend, if not sooner, to post new pictures and stories (some true, some not) to give you something fresh to read.

    Quick notes:
Mom is home from the hospital. She was in for nearly 10 days with pancreatitis. She’s better, but not close to 100% back to normal.
I just got back from a business trip to LA – which is always fun.
And like everyone else, I’m trying to get ready for the holidays. Now that the crisis with mom is subdued and my trips are over with, maybe this weekend I can put up my Christmas tree and get the house partially decorated.

New pictures.. new stories coming soon!
