  1. CasaToeFootball

    September 17, 2006 by Leanne

Let me start off by showing you an update of my broken toes.
The baby toe is still quite swollen but the rest of the swelling on the foot seems to be getting better.

The toes got a pedicure today and a new coat of bright fuschia paint.

Now, on to other topics. Who knows what movie this famous line is from:

“Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

    Hint: (see photos)

Saturday was spent surfing channels between “Casablanca”, the Gator Game

    and the Noles’ game.

The first Gator touchdown of the game.

Other than the 2-point return, which these fans are cheering about, the Noles didn’t have much going on this game.

Not a great day for Florida football – Gators did manage to win (Barely), Noles lost, Canes lost, Knights lost. Ugh.

But let’s here it for the FROG! What’s the frog you ask? It’s the cheap little toy from the pool store that has Jefferson captivated for hours and hours at a time.

    The FROG.

And the happiness the little frog brings to the dog.

    The End.

  2. Happy Birthday

    September 11, 2006 by Leanne

Friday came and went and so did another birthday. Getting old really sucks the wind out of you.
Thank you to everyone who helped me celebrate it in style.

I have a picture of my broken toe taken while I was in the exam room waiting for the xray to be taken. It hadn’t bruised up yet, but you can see the swelling. (Sorry for the blurriness – I can’t seem to take non-blurry photos lately. I’m wondering if it’s the camera and not the photographer)

There was a beautiful full moon on Friday. I tried to take a picture of it from my backyard, but again, the photos all came out blurry. Adjust your eyesight:

The next day I went to Universal’s CityWalk to check things out. Mike and I enjoyed a few margaritas at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. I really enjoyed the conch fritters and the steamed peel and eat shrimp – which were delicious. Yummm…

I’ve got three good books I’m trying to get started reading. One is written by one of my new favorite authors – Nicholas Sparks. I feel in love with this novels after seeing the movie “The Notebook”. His writing makes me cry.

Off to get ready for the work week now.

  3. Clutz of the YEAR

    September 5, 2006 by Leanne

I don’t know when the official awards ceremony will take place, but I will win the award this year for “Clutz of the Year”.
Today – I sat down to do my sit-ups. I leaned back on the machine (apparatus might be a better description) and immediately felt my abdominal muscle rip apart on the first crunch. OUCH.

I regained my composure, got up, and went to lay down for a few minutes to see if it would get better. So I am in bed, being still, nothing has throbbed or ached in a few minutes now so I decide to get up and take a shower.
    But the phone rings.
So I grab my side – it hurts now when I stand up.. and somewhat hurry to get to the phone before the machine picks up. And in the hurried state I jam my foot on the ottoman – crushing my baby toes.
    It hurts. Badly.
I answer the phone.. try to make sense of what I am saying. Basically telling the person on the other end – “I’m not in too good of shape right now.”
My baby toe was pointing in the opposite direction of the other toes – and it was immediately starting to bruise.
    Ouch again.
A pulled ab muscle and a broken toe -all within a 10 minute period and all on Labor Day and all just four days before my birthday.
After driving around and finding two closed “doc in a box” shops, we finally found one that was open. Two hours later, an x-ray confirms the broken bones – and I’m sitting here elevating my foot.
    Happy Labor Day everyone.
    Go Seminoles!!

I guess pix to come later…..

  4. It's been such a long time!

    September 3, 2006 by Leanne

Shame on me for letting so much time go by in-between blog postings. I’ve probably lost all my faithful readers. Tell all your friends to come back.
    Random Labor Day weekend thoughts:
It’s Sunday morning of Labor Day weekend. How nice it is to know I can sleep in late tomorrow. I don’t mind work – I just don’t like “having” to wake up early and get ready. It’s 10am now and so far I’ve accomplished walking both dogs (a combined total of 2.5 miles), reading most of the Sunday paper, completed my on-line banking, and now I’m updating the blog while watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s on TV.

If anyone shops at Chico’s – they are having a great sale right now. An additional 20% off all their already reduced merchandise. Take my word for it – its a really good sale. My checking account is suffering because of it.

Last weekend Nick-at-Nite ran a Daniel Boone marathon. I was in seventh heaven. I love Daniel Boone and Fess Parker. I can’t wait for the DVDs to go on sale in September. Yippee!

I’m trying to talk Dw into going to the beach tomorrow – as I haven’t been all year. I’ve got to sink my feet into the sand along the Atlantic coastline at least once a year. I haven’t missed a year in all my life yet. The only beach I’ve been to so far this year was a dog beach in Long Beach, California last month. (see pictures below). It was totally cool -but doesn’t count towards my Florida beach experience I need to chalk up.

My birthday is this week. I don’t really like to acknowledge it anymore because I can’t believe how old I am. UGH.

I’ve totally fallen in love with the concept of twice monthly manicures and pedicures. It’s an incredibly relaxing way to spend $30 and 90 minutes of time being pampered. Why didn’t I discover this a long time ago? I’m due for one this week.

I bought a book last weekend called “Tong Sing: The Chinese Book of Wisdom”. I guess I’m still hooked on Hong Kong and intrigued by their customs and culture. Anyway, the book is very interesting and full of answers to some of the things I never even knew. It was on sale at Barnes and Noble and is worth the few dollars it cost. If you’ve been to HK, or are planning a trip to China, pick one up.

Final random thought before I get to some new pictures – its always frustrating having to spend money on non-tangible necessary things. For example, I just spent more than $1k on things at my mom’s house that needed fixing – and I don’t get to physically see anything in return. When you have to shell out that kind of money, you want to see something for it. Oh well, there’s always the satisfaction of knowing its for a good cause.

Now – new pictures, in no particular order:

The “dog beach” in Long Beach, CA.

    Me at the dog beach.

The owner of this shepherd spent some time talking to me about his dog. The big guy is 6-years old, gets weekly accupuncture treatments and monthly spinal adjustments in an effort to ward off any future hip problems. Only in California would you hear something like that.

This is so cool – It’s a shot from my United flight leaving Orlando to LA – and you can see Space Mountain and the Contemporary hotel (on the far right).

We took a boat tour of Newport Beach harbor with our good friend Bryan and he pointed out this house – which is where Shirly Temple grew up and lived.

You can see what a gorgeous California day it was on the harbor.

Bryan and Mike having fun on our boat ride. What a great time that was! Two hours of just tooling around the harbor drinking wine, eating sushi and laughing our butts off.

Mike showing off his really expensive LA home.

Back in Orlando at dinner at the California Grill.
