  1. The Attempt Back to Normal

    July 31, 2006 by Leanne

I am trying to get my life back to “normal”, but the bigger question is “What exactly is normal?”

The homelife is a little crazy right now. Mom ended up back in the hospital this weekend with some sort of severe sinus infection that started spreading. She’ll likely come home on Tuesday.
So, in addition to trips to the hospital, I am stopping by her house each day to feed the cats and pick up the mail and I’ve got her puppy staying at my house. You can just imagine how my two old dogs (aged 10 & 13) are reacting to a 3-month old puppy in the house. Their faces are so pitiful with their noses out of joint. They’ve been pretty good with her though – tolerating her constant jumping up at them.

Then there’s work – which has been a little strange, too. Mostly because people (my friends) are scattered all over the world right now either on vacation or on assignment. It will be great when we are all back together again.

While I try to discover what is “Normal” – I leave you with more pictures from Hong Kong. What a great place with very fun people!

I love this shot – it tells it like it. The old world still coexists with modern society.

A walking foot advertising foot massage or reflexology. It was great!

  2. Heading Home

    July 16, 2006 by Leanne

I am on my way (or at least very soon) home, leaving Hong Kong for a third time. What a great place! I will definitely miss it, but will also be very happy to be home again.

  3. Driving to the Future!

    by Leanne

Our mission for this journey to HK has been accomplished. On Wednesday, July 12 – three brand new fun attractions opened in Tomorrowland at Hong Kong Disneyland. Our hours of discussions around what to do if it rains were thankfully all unnecessary. It turned out to be gorgeous, sunny and extremely hot. In fact, the weather gurus issued heat advisories that day. It was a great event and everyone seems very happy. Mission accomplished!

HAVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS LOADING PHOTOS – will try again later. Enjoy these for now.

  4. My Saturday

    July 9, 2006 by Leanne

How about this – two back-to-back posts! My Saturday was fun – although I did have to spend a few hours editing some video we need for next week’s event. The editing production house is located in Wan Chai, about a 15 minute walk from my hotel, which is great! The edit suite is on the 38th floor of the Wu Chung building and gives a great view of Hong Kong Island.
When we were done with the edit, I left to head down to Central for a little walk. But when I got downstairs I saw the city Trolley go by, and on a whim, hopped on it! I never took it last year when I was here and it was on my list of things to do when I came back. It’s a double-decker open air trolley that runs the main route of HK Island, from Central down to Causeway Bay. I only went a short distance, but it was fun – and cheap! I think my trip cost 25-cents (USD).
Later in the day, the US team here for the event went to the Lookout Restaurant at the top of the Peak for a nice team dinner. It was very relaxing with good food.
Today, Sunday, I have meetings from 10am thru 4pm at Disneyland. Then -later, hopefully, we are meeting back up with Shen the Tailor to receive all our clothes we ordered two weeks ago. That will be VERY exciting… something to look forward to during the day-long meeting.

Bevis, my editor, hard at work.

This is the view from the edit suite in Wan Chai.

I took the Trolley for the first time – it was fun!

My massage place I went to last year closed down, so I walked around looking for a new one. I found this place in Central – it was actually kind of creepy but they gave me a great accu-pressure massage. Don’t think I will be going back there, though.

Here’s the bizarre photo of the trip – Where’s Jimmy????

  5. More HK stuff

    July 8, 2006 by Leanne

Where to even begin with this post. We have been very busy this week – which is normal for the final week leading up to a press event. Hence, the reason there hasn’t been much posting on the blog.
I know the 4th has come and gone back home but I will share some pics of how we celebrated it here – on the 3rd. There, obviously, is no holiday here on the 4th. Charles, Gary, Jimmy and I went to Agave for Mexican food and margharitas then hopped around Lan Kwai Fong for a bit. That was it – Home before 11pm.

I’m not sure Charles was having as much fun as me.

But we did coax him to join us on in our band photo moment.

A moment in time at Bar George in LKF.

They caught me laughing so hard!

I think you can figure out this poster -even if you can’t read Chinese.

And I know these photos will bring back lots of memories for those who were here last year. Our jeweler friend, Mariane – below – took me out for a nice Dim Sum lunch last weekend. She says hello to all her Disney friends, on both coasts!

  6. Hong Kong – Week 3

    July 1, 2006 by Leanne

Week three of this third trip to HK is complete. I spent the majority of the week in bed sick with some yukky bug I picked up. Gary was sick too, but got over quicker than I did. I seem to be just about 100% back today. Thank goodness.
This week included a visit to our hotel from our favorite tailor of last year, Mr. Shen. Gary, Jimmy and I went nuts – although I was definitely nuttier than them, but I am a girl and clothes mean more to me than they do to guys. He comes back next weekend with the good – I can’t wait. I will return a fashion diva on a limited budget.
Last night Gary, Charles, Jimmy and I went to Soho for a nice Mediterranean dinner, followed by my first visit (this time around) to Lan Kwai Fong. The pictures will tell the story on that!

Jimmy getting fitted by Mr. Shen for a nice new suit.

Gary trying to figure out which fabrics to order for his new underwear.

Just a sample of the many, many swatches of fabrics to choose from. What a problem to have!

Mr. Shen and our dear friend Adeline who helped translate for us.

Gary heard these chimes and was trying to figure out where they were coming from. Charles pointed out the clock they were standing right underneath might be the answer.

Ah- Lan Kwai Fong. This is the restaurant Dw kept promising to take me to last year. We never made it there. But I know where it’s at this year!

I took this for Miguel – a night in honor of his dog.

A few too many tilts at the Russian Vodka bar might be the reason for this photo. Poor Gary!

But – after such LKF heroics, Gary managed to master the escalator on the way home.

Next day. This is taken from the Admiralty walk-way overlooking the main harbor in Hong Kong.

Dozens of people crowded the walkway to get a view of the July 1 protest march.

This is where the march was going to take place. I didn’t feel like waiting another 1/2 hour to take a photo of it. But I heard it go by from my hotel room. Didn’t seem to last very long.

We are off tonight to a boat ride to Lamma Island for a promising delicious seafood dinner. I’ll recap that next time. Later!!!
