I was in Los Angeles, more precisely Anaheim, for business this week and ventured on Saturday to Catalina. It was never one of the those places I’ve ever thought about visiting, but what the heck.
Mike lives in Long Beach, less than 10 minutes away from the port where we caught the Catalina Express to the island. The trip there took less than 90 minutes and was enjoyable. We paid the extra $10 upgrade to 1st class where we got to board first and had beer and wine at our disposal. A $10 well spent.
The island itself was very pretty. There were golf carts for rent as soon as we got off the ship, but we opted instead to just wander around the pier area. There were lots of little shops and bars and restaurants. It kept us busy for a few hours until our return trip back to the mainland. I am spoiled by the beautiful beaches of Florida, because I thought the beach in Catalina was quite ugly, but there were lots of people taking advantage of it.
It was definitely a fun place to visit. I can check it off my list (which it wasn’t even on) and dream on to the next unplanned adventure.
This was the boat we took to get to the island.
Everyone lives on the edge in this city.
It was a gorgeous day in Catalina.
There were these little shopping plazas along the pier to wander around.
I think this was taken at our 3rd margarita stop.
This was the 5th margarita break.
Just me.
