  1. The beauty of Catalina

    May 29, 2006 by Leanne

I was in Los Angeles, more precisely Anaheim, for business this week and ventured on Saturday to Catalina. It was never one of the those places I’ve ever thought about visiting, but what the heck.
Mike lives in Long Beach, less than 10 minutes away from the port where we caught the Catalina Express to the island. The trip there took less than 90 minutes and was enjoyable. We paid the extra $10 upgrade to 1st class where we got to board first and had beer and wine at our disposal. A $10 well spent.
The island itself was very pretty. There were golf carts for rent as soon as we got off the ship, but we opted instead to just wander around the pier area. There were lots of little shops and bars and restaurants. It kept us busy for a few hours until our return trip back to the mainland. I am spoiled by the beautiful beaches of Florida, because I thought the beach in Catalina was quite ugly, but there were lots of people taking advantage of it.
It was definitely a fun place to visit. I can check it off my list (which it wasn’t even on) and dream on to the next unplanned adventure.

This was the boat we took to get to the island.

Everyone lives on the edge in this city.

It was a gorgeous day in Catalina.

There were these little shopping plazas along the pier to wander around.

I think this was taken at our 3rd margarita stop.

This was the 5th margarita break.

    Just me.

I know this is so wrong. But let me just say, Ladies – please look in the mirror before you venture out in such short skirts.

  3. How much is that doggy in the window??

    May 21, 2006 by Leanne

Oh dear. My mother has done it again. She has added another new member to the family. Although I was (and still am) hesitant about it, she did it anyway. Meet “Shelby” – an 8-week old cockapoo.
    Cuteness does supersede logic.

    Shelby and her mom “Gypsy”.

And nothing to do with dogs.. Star Wars Weekends kicked off this Friday and I was there for a quick photo op with the big cheese himself.

  4. I Left My Heart…In San Francisco!!

    May 17, 2006 by Leanne

Yes – it’s been awhile since I have posted. But I’m back and with some great photos to share! I just spent four wonderful days in beautiful San Francisco. What a fabulous city. If you’ve never been, get online now and book a vacation. From the historic cable cars, to watching the sea lions bathe in the sun, to touring Alcatraz, to eating fresh seafood, to Giants baseball, to cruising the Pacific Coast Highway, to touring the wine vineyards, to spending some quality meditating time on the beach… there is so much to do.

So – with that mouthful – let’s get right to the pictures!

A boat tour of Alcatraz – very memorable!
The boat tour going under the Golden Gate Bridge. SO cool!

The famous Pier 39 Sea Lions – just letting it all hang out. Arf Arf

They stunk to high heaven, but were so much fun to watch!

As we drove across the Golden Gate bridge – I took this photo of the rear-view mirror. Kinda cool!

Just a great view from the PCH overlook.

This was our first wine country stop – at the Landmark Vineyards. We picked a perfect, quaint, small vineyard for our introduction to wines. Unbeknownst to us – they offered one of the very few vineyard tours – and theirs was on a horse-driven carriage. So fun!

The next day we visited the St. Francis wine vineyards. Another quaint and friendly winery. The scenery is so beautiful – at all the vineyards in Sonoma. And the people were all so nice.

Me – somewhere in Sonoma wine country.
