  1. Being Thankful

    November 26, 2005 by Leanne

It’s Saturday morning – the third day of our four-day long holiday weekend. I’ve heard so many people say Thanksgiving is by far their favorite holiday of the seasons. It’s a time we can all just kick back and enjoy our family and friends – without any expectations of gifts or trying to out-do one another. This Thanksgiving was a good one. Although it is nearly impossible for the whole family to be together, those of us who could – did. I saw some relatives I haven’t seen in years. There is so much to be thankful for this year. I do feel blessed!

Hopefully I will have some photos of our actual Thanksgiving dinner soon. My uncle took the pictures and will send them to me once he gets back home to his computer.

In the interim, here’s a few photos from our little post-Thanksgiving shindig on Friday at my house.

I don’t know why this one came out blurry. It’s Andy, Claudia, Annette and Julie.

  2. Reunited

Its only been 8 weeks since I’ve returned from Hong Kong. This weekend some of our colleagues from around the world who were there with me were here in Orlando for a conference. We all carved out some unscheduled time on Friday night to get together and re-live some of those days over a glass or two (or three) of wine and martinis. We were howling with laughter! I haven’t had such a good laugh in so long, I was crying – and so were some of the men – crying with laughter. It felt so good!!

    Arneau, Miguel and Guy

    Jacquee and Esther

Miguel and Laetitia (our lovely hosts for the night)

Mojito – our other co-host of the night

A brief lapse in the laughter!

  3. Veterans Day

    November 14, 2005 by Leanne

Friday morning – November 11 – a.k.a. Veterans Day. (notice there’s no apostrophe in Veterans… I learned this from Ms. Bluezette, an insider news website.)
Anyways, I had to work on Veterans Day or at least I was “supposed” to work. I got up as usual on Friday, went to the gym, worked out, came home and as I was walking back up my front steps something caught my eye to the right. A hole. Not just any hole – but a hole where there wasn’t supposed to be a hole. I tromped into the area and quickly assessed a major problem. My septic tank pipe had collapsed. I immediately began to wonder how long it had been like this – as I normally enter/exit the house through the garage. And the NEXT horrid thought I had was – how many snakes and frogs had made their way into the pipes and were trying to make new residence into my house! EEK!
Friday was spent with the plumber getting this nightmarish situation under control. I never made it into work.

Saturday came – and I was able to spend some quality time with family. My uncle from Georgia was in town for the weekend so a group of us went out to dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Apopka. I ordered the Chicken Pizzaoila – fantastico!
Sunday was what it was meant to be. A do nothing – get caught up with stuff, if you feel like it kind of day.

Happy November 13 to everyone. By the way – Saturday was Ashley’s 12th birthday! She’s looking damn good for an old dog, huh!
