Just trying to catch up with some photos that have been sent to me.
This was Douglas’s first day or so in Hong Kong – and we had him work a media event. How cruel can we be?
On “Cast Appreciation” day we all had to “Cross-U’ – Yes, even in Hong Kong. Here we all are at the water cart distributing bottles of water.
Remember Beijing – Way back in late June? Rick took this photo and I just am now sharing it with everyone.

Hard to believe but we are two weeks away from the Grand Opening. I hope most of you understand that is why the blog has been ignored lately.
But I felt your angst and clicked away some new photos to share. Nothing too riveting, but something fresh for you to look at.
Rehearsal days continue in the park. Today was a busy, but gorgeous day.

I spent the entire day at HKDL with a news crew. Here they are taping an executive interview in front of the castle.
Another shot of the same interview.
We rode the Jungle River Cruise several times – to capture all the different languages. (Cantonese, Mandarin and English)
Douglas and I on the bus ride home – we’re both a little sun-burnt and tired, but we managed a smile.
After the all-day shoot, we headed to a meeting where we had dinner with Robbi and Darla. I might add the food was pretty good – nothing Chinese!
And finally, Steve and Dw at the meeting continuing to work the entire time. I did catch one of these guys with two helpings of cheesecake on their plate!

Yes, I know the lyrics are off, but I am assured I will still be able to sing the same song on Monday, too. It’s raining – and has been every single day this week. This morning we woke up to a Monsoon warning, a landslide warning, and a thunderstorm warning. I looked out at the pool and one of the canopys had blown into the water (sorry, no photo).
The forecast doesn’t look very bright either (hey you meteorology friends back home, can’t you wave your magic wands over here and do something about this?)
I lugged a big box in the pouring rain to the post office this morning. I had to send some stuff to my mom of things that I know won’t fit in my suitcases when I pack to head home next month. That wasn’t an easy task.
Hopefully, I can take some more exciting pictures of SOMETHING other than the rain this week to share with you for the next update.

The radar has looked exactly the same for days now. Above was Saturday’s radar – and below is Sunday’s radar.

Typically, you can see the mountain behind the hotel, but it’s so rainy and foggy it doesn’t exist in this photo. (taken from my living room)

The official Grand Opening of Hong Kong Disneyland is less than a month away. And I am less than 5 weeks from heading home. This has definitely been a wonderful experience – with a lot of ups and downs along the way. Great new friends and an incredible cultural experience.
Work is non-stop at this point. Therefore, I have no new photos to share with you today. Just some stories…
Typhoon Alert – We had our first typhoon alert of the season this past weekend. Guess we were lucky the weather forecast was a little off – in that all we received here at Gold Coast was a night of bad thunderstorms. We had some high winds, but nothing compared to our Florida hurricanes. Guess we were fortunate.
Brownies - Who would have thought that homemade brownies could be so comforting. One of our colleagues from California received a tupperware box today of homemade brownies and shared them with the office. We were in seventh heaven. Remember, none of us have ovens (except for Mike) so we can’t enjoy the cooking and baking of home. The taste of that brownie was so spectacular! Oh my!!
Heat and humidity – Trying to explain how hot it is here is nearly impossible. Those of you in Florida, just imagine it to be much worse. Gary said today he actually saw his knees sweating. Don Robinson calls the days by the number of shirts he has to change – “It’s a 3-shirt day. or It’s a 5 shirt day.” Sweating is constant and the sun is brutal. It’s really hot.
Rehearsal Days – Tomorrow we open the park for Rehearsal Days. For the cast it is extremely interesting because it’s the last chance to practice with real guests before we open the parks. For the Task Force, it means we’re close to coming home. We’ve been very excited about Rehearsal Days coming.. and now they are here. I think it is going to be bitter sweet in the end.
MASH 4077 – Also known as our new digs. You saw the photo of our new home last week. We are actually getting used to it now. The good part is being closer to the park and closer to the entertainment building. There’s nothing like hearing the parade go by in the middle of the day – and that’s a good thing. (I think) It’s also fun to hear the jammitors rehearsing right outside our windows. It’s actually fun. The downside is our new cafeteria – I won’t even go there.
If anyone has any requests for Hong Kong gifts, let me know now. I’m shipping boxes home in the next two weeks. After that – if it doesn’t fit in my suitcases – it’s staying here!
Hope you are all doing well! I miss everyone of you!

Yes – we’ve seen the signs here in Asia. Mostly its just a humorous interpretation of the English language, while others are just down-right funny.
Due to a really hectic, but blog-boring worklife, I will upload some photos of some of the more unique signs we’ve seen on this trip.

It’s hard to believe one week ago today we were on a plane heading home from a near perfect weekend in Phuket. It’s 1:45pm Sunday afternoon as I upload these photos. It is extremely hot outside here in Hong Kong and the air conditioning couldn’t be more comforting. Someone suggested I go sit out by the pool and read for a few hours – I say – “Are you crazy?” I think I’d pass out from the heat just walking to the pool. I am very comfortable right here in my cozy, little apartment.
Now, on to the rest of the Phuket photos I promised you.

These photos are all from Patong Beach in Phuket. When we got out of the taxi, this was the first thing we saw – The King lives on – even in Thailand!

This a shot of the beach and all the scooters lined up along the road. Patong Beach was heavily hit by the tsunami. Looking at the ocean horizon, I can’t imagine what those poor people saw – or didn’t notice, coming at them.

The beachside bars are all encompassing – drinks and massage in one location.

You can buy grilled squid – cooked right in front of you, from a street-side bicycle vendor.

If you didn’t know this was Thailand, it could be any beachside street in Florida.

During dinner, a wicked storm came up on us. Our restaurant was on stilts over the shore with open windows for a breeze. Lightning knocked out the power, thankfully after we had eaten, and we finished the evening by candlelight. Doesn’t Angie look beautiful?

Last week we had to pack our bags and vacate our offices out of the luxurious main administrative building (a.k.a. Team Disney) and into our new digs. It’s not quite the story of “movin’ on up”, but at least we have a roof over our heads. For some of us, this was the third move since we’ve been here and based on averages, it probably won’t be the last.

Our old offices – crammed with moving boxes.
Rick trying to make sense of which box has his stuff in it.
Ah – our new digs – fondly referred to as the M.A.S.H. unit.
(Those of you under 30 won’t get that joke.)
My new desk.
A conference room turned office suite where it will be home for Gary, Geoff, Angie, Ken, John, Steve and 5 others.

Due to lack of meeting rooms, we have to find space whereever we can. Today’s meeting was in the lobby of one of the hotels.
Jacquee and Miguel listening intently – focused on the discussion, despite my camera presence.
Esther and Sara – post meeting.
