It’s the end of our fourth full day here and we are so proud of ourselves. We have sampled just about every form of transportation there is here. Today we took a city bus for the first time from our apartments into downtown Hong Kong. We rode the subway (MTR) multiple times, the shuttle buses, the taxis and we’ve done some walking. Did I say “some” walking???
I have never walked as much as I have in the past few days – and there’s no end in sight. You walk and walk and walk and walk. Even if you plan to take the MTR, you have to walk a long ways to get there and through the subway halls. My shins and calves have never been so sore!
This would explain why everyone here is so thin. I also applaud the women here. I don’t think I’ve seen hardly any high heeled shoes. God bless!
It rains here – almost all the time. I have only seen maybe – at most- 15 minutes of sun since I’ve arrived. Today we discovered there is a shuttle bus that takes us back from the market to our apartments – which is about a 1/2 mile walk. That doesn’t seem like much, until you are carrying 5- 6 grocery bags full of canned food, bottles, and such. That’s when we said – there is a transportation buddha!
