I got company coming to the house!
Do I hear awkward groaning from some of you?
Not me! I rarely have company come stay with me so this is a huge treat. It’s exciting getting the house cleaned and prepped for others.
First of all, just having motivation to clean is always a good thing, otherwise those dust balls might just sit there till they take over the house.
Here’s a picture of the new sleeper-sofa for the guests to use. I think its very pretty. More importantly, it’s very comfortable just as a sofa, which is unusual for sleeper sofas. I did good on this one!
You may not be seeing any new posts for a few days. I’m flying off to the other side of the world tomorrow morning. I’m Hong Kong bound! I’ll be back next week with hopefully, some spectacular pictures and stories to tell! As they say in Cantonese – Bye Bye!

The third weekend in March is always jam packed with things to do here. The biggest event is the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. I bet I’ve been to nearly every one in the past 15 years. It was only the last two years that I actually splurged and bought something (other than the fabulicious funnel cake!) Last year, I went with some dear friends from Pennsylvania – who had never heard of the Festival before. So we did the art thing then I took them on the hidden gem of Winter Park, the awesome Winter Park Boat Tour. I love it! My whole point of recapping last year is to get to the fact that it was the year I bought my first piece of art. A beautiful mesmerizing nightfall photograph with hundreds of alligator eyes glowing in the dusk. It’s the centerpiece of my piano room. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the same artist back this year, he wasn’t listed in the program guide. Too bad.
But, that’s not to say I didn’t find something else! I was on my way OUT of the festival when I came upon two booths, nearly next to each other that had both funky art and reasonably priced!
Here’s one of the two art pieces I bought – it’s a digital piece that is just so cool!
The festival was fun. Trendy Park Avenue survives another year!
It was just one gorgeous, spectacular weekend!

My weekend in pictures.

A little confused?
So here’s how the weekend played out. I spent Saturday morning at the Special Olympics games. My assignment: The awards table. My job: To cheer the winners on as they received their ribbons. It was so incredible and heart-warming. The love, courage, and spirit these people showed was so inspiring. It was a great experience and I will definitely do more to help them again in the future.
Does the next picture gross you out? It should. The real-life experience was disgusting. When I got home from the Special Olympics, I wanted to do some laundry. I knew I was in deep trouble when the laundry outflow started gurgling up in the kitchen sink. When it was all said and done, there was sewage in places it definitely shouldn’t be. The problem has been band-aided for now, (thanks to a dear family member!) but the plumbers are going to have to come back on Monday. YUCK!
Saturday wasn’t done yet. The sewage nightmare happened just two hours before I had to go to do some video producing. Thank goodness I made it to the shoot on time. The production went on fine.
Then – to relieve my tension from Saturday, I went shopping on Sunday. Dillards was having a HUGE sale – 75% off and more. I picked up three designer pieces for mere pennies (ok, dollars), then went to another one of my favorite stores and they were having a HUGE sale – everything on the back racks were just $3.99!! Can you believe it? I bought 4 pairs of my favorite pants (normally $40/pair) for just $3.99 each. Yea Me! I feel kinda guilty because I heard a financial analyst the other day say a very compelling line: “You can’t wear your assets.” How true! One day I’ll learn to hold back.
So – that is my wild, weird, inspiring, and disgusting weekend!
