So when I started this blog, I thought it would be cool if I updated it every week.
This would make a half-diary, half-”here’s what’s new” editorial.
It is turning out to be a little harder to do than I thought it would be.
Here it is, Oscar Sunday. While the hip-cool Hollywood types of the world are all abuzz in their worries and frets about who will win what, I sit here in my sweats, with a glass of pinot noir, and my dogs at my feet. Isn’t it funny that what is so important to so many, and what will be the biggest moment in their life, has such little impact on me.
Ok – now back to this week. It absolutely flew by. I guess it could be best described as having “gone to the dogs”. The week started with a pricey visit to the vet with Ashley. She’s been diagnosed with arthritis all through her back hips. The new vitamins seem to be helping, but I don’t think her limp will ever go away.
Then, today, I had to do something sad with my mom’s dog. I won’t go into detail.
Mr. Jefferson got himself a new collar!
I think this coming week is going to be crazy. We’ll wait and see!

I finally did it. I have joined the rank and file of the digital era and have ventured down Apple Lane into the world of ipod. Admittedly, I held out as long as I could. How could I justify spending so much money for a work-out accessory when a $15 am/fm headset has done me well for a long time? I finally caved when Uncle Sam came through with my year-end savings return. (Don’t get me started on how wrong that is!)
So, after a week of transferring songs from my very limited CD collection to my new gadget, I am so getting a kick out of it! Today, I used it while taking Jefferson for a 3-mile walk and found myself singing the whole way. Thank GOODNESS it was early enough in the morning where there was no-one around to hear my wretched, out-of-tune voice. But I had fun singing to music I haven’t listened to in years.
Now the downside – I am wanting all those expensive little accessories for it so I can use it in other places, like my car, my house stereo. The fun has just begun!

I just returned from spending a few days in Parsippany, New Jersey. (No – no pictures to share this time 
)
The weather forecasters warned of “high level accumulations”. Being from the South all my life, I had to ask what that meant. They laughed at me. But the forecasts were wrong – it was just cold there. Cold enough for me to bundle up in comfy $5 scarf I bought from a streetside vendor in NYC last October. I was warm and trendy – a rarity!
It’s good to be home. The dogs were bouncing off the ceiling happy to see me!
Oh – Parsippany was quaint! Some gorgeous homes in rolling hill neighborhoods. The eating was great, too. A quick, but good trip!

For those who know me, it feels a little weird to actually be in-town for the big game – and not there in the middle of the hub-bub. But, that’s the way the ball bounces sometimes. My friends John and Mary hosted a Super Bowl party on Sunday and can I say, what a fiesta it was? The food spread was enormous – wow! They know how to throw a party.
We were the marketing “girls” of the party!

So today was fun. Got up early and took part in the first annual Walk for the Arts. I went alone, but found some of my good friends from Local 6 – who made the walk so much fun!
Here we are crossing the finish line (me, Tom & Lauren). I think it’s safe to take about 12 minutes off that time. We were all the way at the back of the pack when the race started!

The trouble the photog (Tom) had to go through for this picture. First I had to make him wait to take off my sunglasses, then my hair kept getting in my mouth, finally I was ready. The Mayor kept his pose the whole time. He’s obviously used to this paparazzi treatment.)
And finally, here’s where TV meets Real Radio.
I’m so glad I went. Even ran into someone from my office. Got to hang out with the very cool people from Local 6 who were just awesome! For those of you who didn’t go this year, mark your calendars to take part next year. It’s for a great cause and was a lot of fun, plus got some exercise in, too! (They even feed you at the end of the race!)

This is Jefferson! He’s been part of the family for one year this month. He’s doing great.
This photo to the left is what appeared in the local community paper back in July 2004. They slugged it “take me out to the ball game.” He’s famous now!
When Mike sees this photo, he’s going to have a fit. Look! Jefferson’s up on the couch with me! I’m teaching this dog some bad habits! Oops!
